No DescriptionGlenda Murray:  Practice Mananger. Glenda has worked at Northgate Small Animal Hospital since August 2004 when she was hired as a veterinary technician. In December of 2007 she became the practice manager. She has worked a total of 12 years in the veterinary field starting out in California, moving on to Japan then Arkansas and finally Illinois. Her husband Rick retired from the United States Airforce last year. They have two children both of whom are in college. Glenda's pets include; Rex, a 14 year old cat who was born in Japan and is slightly obsessive. Maneki, a tiny tortishell kitten who was found in the gutter and is now eight years old and 15 lbs and Fleur a cat who was brought to Northgate last year very cold and frightened having been attacked by some dogs. She had to have her tail amputated but is fine now. Glenda also has a Dutch Warmblood horse whom she hopes to compete with this year.



 

Robyn Martin: Office Manager. Robyn has worked as the office manager at Northgate Small Animal Hospital since October 2001. She graduated from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in 1988 with a Bachelor's degree in Marketing and Management. Before arriving at Northgate she worked in the retail field so she finds her work here a perfect combination of her previous experience and her love of animals. Her job includes office organization and customer concerns. She has many cats, several of whom were obtained through rescue organizations. These include Annabelle, who was born and raised in her home, ( Robyn was fostering her mother at the time) and Mozart who was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy and was given over to her by a northgate client. She enjoys arts and crafts, thrift store shopping and a good meal with friends.






Stephanie: RVT: Veterinary Technician Manager. Steph has worked at Northgate Small Animal Hospital for 5 years. She has worked in the veterinary field for 10 years starting off as a receptionist and moving on to veterinary assistant/kennel worker. She graduated from Jefferson College Missouri in 2003 with an Associate in Applied Science degree in Veterinary Technology. Steph worked in the field of critical care before coming to Northgate. Her duties here include supervising up to 10 technicians, maintaining hospital inventory and making sure all of our patients receive excellent care. She has four dogs and one cat. Jake is a 12 year old Labrador who suffers from separation anxiety. Apache an Akita/Chow with epilepsy has survived 2 years longer than specialists predicted due to Steph's care and determination. Cheyenne and Tuf Nut were both bottle fed puppies Steph raised and decided to adopt. Tosa, the lone cat, adopted Steph and her husband and now lives in the master bedroom his "castle". When not taking care of her animal family Steph enjoys watching sports, reading about the paranormal and practicing Yoga.




Veterinary Technicians


Geoff: Geoff has worked at Northgate since August of 2004. He is our main surgery technician, assisting the doctors and making sure the surgery room is stocked and everything runs smoothly. He has one dog, Bosco, a very energetic Boston terrier who loves to show off all the tricks Geoff has taught him. When not at Northgate you can find Geoff helping out at the family farm in Mt. Vernon.










Melissa; R.V.T. Melissa joined Northgate Small Animal Hospital in September of 2006. She graduated from Sanford Brown College in March of  2008 with an Associate Degree in Animal Science. She became a board certified technician when she passed her exams in June. Melissa has some important responsibilities here at Northgate. She takes care of our x-ray equipment and makes sure we have all our needed supplies for referral laboratory work. Prior to working at Northgate she was a groom at Fairmount Race Track for 5 years and a dog groomer for 2 years. Currently she has 2 dogs, Tyler and Chewie and 3 cats, Joker, Piper and Marie. Chewie was delivered by cesarian section here at Northgate and became Melissa's neonate project at school. 








Kristen: Kristen joined Northgate in June of 2007. She is in charge of client education brochures, stocking our puppy and kitten packs and  making sure new owners get all the latest information on vaccinations, disease prevention and flea and tick control. She has two Boxers, Penny and Kody and two cats, Lola who was adopted here at Northgate and Bonnie a 1 year old tabby female. Tennis, swimming and shopping keep her busy in her spare time.


                                   









Angie: Angie comes to Northgate with 6+ years experience as a veterinary technician in Indiana and here in Illinois. She is the OSHA representative here at Northgate making sure we are up to date on all safety concerns. She has a 2 year old Doberman Pinscher mix who was orphaned at 2 days old and had to be bottle fed. She is an avid ice hockey fan, both watching and playing the sport.




 



 

Stephanie: Stephanie joined Northgate in October of 2008. She is a registered veterinary technician graduating from San Joaquin Valley college in August of 1994. She was hired by Cunningham Veterinary Hospital while in school and worked there until her move to Utah in 1995. She moved to the St. Louis area in 1996 and continued to work in the veterinary field. She has 2 dogs, Dart, a Bassett Hound and Squirt a Maltese. She also has 2 new kittens, Leia and Leonidas. Stephanie loves to spend time outdoors camping and hiking with her husband and their children.






Carolyn:
Carolyn began working at Northgate in April of 2009. She comes to us with 6 years experience, three of those working at a satellite clinic helping build the practice. Carolyn's pets include three dogs, Tinkerbell and Beans, both Pugs (Beans had to be tube fed until 9 weeks of age and then undergo surgery to correct a cleft palate), and Vigo a red Shepherd mix who jumped into her yard and stayed to become part of the family. She also has three cats Pooh, Gigantor and Alien.







Christina:
Christina joined Northgate in June of 2009. She previously worked at Banfield Pet Hospital for two years and at the Humane Society for about the same length of time. She has two dogs, Sierra a miniature daschund who loves opening everyones Christmas presents and Goober an Italian Greyhound found at a shelter. Christina also has two cats, Holly and Cookie who both love to cuddle in their unique ways. Christina loves fishing and camping, arts and crafts and playing video games.







Kirstin: Kirstin joined Northgate in July of 2009 She graduated from the Veterinary Technician program at Sanford-Brown College in September 2009. She will soon take her boards and become a registered veterinary technician. She still lives with her parents who have three dogs, Simone, Brody and Dingus all "rescue mutts". In her spare time she likes  reading and travelling.









Amanda:
Amanda is Northgate's newest employee. She also works part time at the St. Louis zoo in the education department. She has three dogs, Ben, Wilson and Chip. Four cats, Roman, Dixie, Whisky and Paris. Two rats, Bruno and Alice. She aslo has Lily the duck and various fish, so she almost has a zoo of her own! Her hobbies include scuba diving, camping, fishing, quilting and sewing.









Receptionists
 
Michelle: Michelle has worked at Northgate Small Animal Hospital for 12 years, 4 years as a veterinary technician and 8 years as a receptionist.She attended Southwestern Illinois College as an Art Major from 1991 to 1993 then switched to Nursing. Michelle would some day like to attend Barnes College of  Nursing to pursue her dream. Here at Northgate, among her many duties she also finds time to take care of Chewie when Melissa brings him to the clinic for the day. She has 6 cats at home. Dusty is a 12 year old Maine Coon mix rescued from a shelter. Iceland and Gilbert were Collinsville street cats. Gilbert now has diabetes and Iceland has cardiomyopathy IBD and hip dysplasia. Simon fell from the engine of a car ( he's a lucky cat ). Bonsai was found in a cooler along a country road and Sebastian was a birthday present for her husband. Michelle is a busy Mom with 2 small boys but when she has the time she likes to read or go shopping.

 

 



Rita: Affectionately known as "Aunt Rita" by her co-workers, Rita has worked at Northgate for 12 years. Four years ago she adopted the clinic cat Smokey and took him home. He had become somewhat of a problem at Northgate when he took a dislike to dogs. He now lives happily with Rita and her husband and her many other rescues and strays. Rita loves a bargain, you will find her searching the flea markets for antiques most Saturdays.






Diane:
Diane has worked as a receptionist here at Northgate for 5 years. She worked for 30 years as a floral designer, a talent she has not lost. You may see some of  her work displayed on the front counter. She also takes care of our potted plants. She owns 2 Yorkshire Terriers, Gidget who is 3 years old and Zoie a 9 year she recently adopted. She also has Maci a Maltese/Yorkie mix and Sparky a Chihuahua. Her cats include, Chloe, Mickey, Sinatra and Skylar. Diane likes shopping, traveling and floral design as a hobby.






Jill:
This is Jill's second stint here at Northgate, I guess she couldn't stay away. She has been working part time for 4 years this time around. She has a Shepherd/Husky mix known affectionately as Lily the Wonder dog and several cats. She loves cooking and shopping.








Rhonda:
Rhonda started work at Northgate in July 2006. She returned to work as a receptionist after an 18 year absence. She is our seasonal decorator, bringing many of her own items to enhance the reception area. Her pets include Buddy, a Border Collie/American Eskimo mix, Pinky ( her grand-dog ) a 1 year old rat terrier and 3 cats, Sheba, Fluffy and Buster. Rhonda has many hobbies including, cooking, gardening, crafts and photography.








Gloria:
Gloria is our newest receptionist. She started work at Northgate May of 2007. She previously worked as a pharmacy technician and also worked in the accounting department at a jewelry store. She recently suffered the loss of her dog and hasn't had the heart to get a new pet. She enjoys sewing and spending time with her grandchildren, ( all eight of them).
